The Immortal boatman, Charon, is the sole inhabitant of an ancient lake between life and death. He sleeplessly awaits the call from Hermes to perform his task – to gather the dead and redeem their souls by placing them into the bottomless abyss. Until a living child appears from the depths of the forest. Unable to take the child’s life, Charon gradually loses his immortality. As he now faces his own death, he makes a conscious decision for the first time in his life.
